![]() Cotty's departure marks the end of the second act and the beginning of the climax/denouement, where the main conflicts in the story are brought to their most intense point. Faith getting on the bus back home is the mid-point of the film, where the remaining girls lose their moral compass and their situation quickly worsens. The tone and mood of the film makes a clear shift as we get some complicating/rising action and more tension in the story. The act breaks couldn't be more obvious, even to a casual viewer - Act 2 begins when they get arrested. I strongly agree that this is his most cohesive narrative. I commented in a thread about Spring Breakers over in r/screenwriting about a month ago about how impressed I was with how Korine structured the film. ![]()
